This position functions as a Pediatrician for the Kaua'i Region Clinics of the Hawai'i Health Systems Corporation.
The Kaua'i Region Clinics consist of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po'ipu, and The Clinic at Kapa'a.
The Kaua'i Region Clinics, along with Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH) are part of the Kaua'i Region, Hawai'i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai'i.
We are in search of a dedicated, compassionate Pediatrician who will be responsible for the medical care of HHSC Kaua'i Region's patients from infancy to adolescence.
The Kaua'i Region Pediatrician will provide general medicine, monitor growth and development, immunization tracking and administer, as well as ease children with chronic conditions, and offer support and advice to parents about their children's health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs.
To be successful in this position, candidates must have strong clinical knowledge in order to deliver accurate diagnoses solely based on visual and auditory indicators in dealing with patients who aren't able to advocate for themselves.
Candidates must also be able to demonstrate excellent decision-making skills; possess strong compassion and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to relate to children and their parents; ability to organize work, prioritize, and multi-task; exceptional understanding of various diseases that affect babies and children; ability to think strategically; and excellent bedside manner.
This position reports directly to the Regional Chief Medical Officer (RCMO), position no.
109715, or its designee.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development.
Review patient records and medical history.
Examine pediatric patients to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms.
Answer patient questions about their condition and diagnose patients and develop treatment plans.
Order diagnostic tests from other medical providers.
Accurately chart patient symptoms and behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements.
Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree and completion of a pediatric residency program accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association.
Licensure:
Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the State of Hawai'i.
The physician shall be duly licensed and qualified as a doctor of medicine or osteopathy to practice medicine in the State and shall be approved for Active Staff membership and clinical privileges on the Medical Staff of the Hospital in accordance with the Hospital's Medical Staff bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
The physician shall also be approved for, and maintain throughout the term of this Agreement, Active Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges at the Hospital.
The physician is further required to maintain membership in good standing in Kaua'i Medical Associates, an independent physician association.
Current registration with the U.
S.
Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and a current State Controlled Substance license from the State of Hawai'i Department of Public Safety's (DPS) Narcotics Enforcement Division (NED).
Certifications:
Current, valid board certification in Pediatrics or Family Practice.
Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association for Healthcare Workers in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Additional Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time and have limited periods of rest; willingness to be on call for three (3) or more days in a row with minimal rest.
WORKING CONDITIONS Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.
Mental/Emotional Requirements:
All applicants must possess emotional and mental stability appropriate to the job duties and responsibilities and working conditions.
